The Gallery and Academy of Robert Beck will present an exhibition of paintings by Alex Cohen titled Small Captivations, Opening December 8 in Lambertville.  Artist’s receptions will be held Friday, December 7, 6-9, and Sunday, December 9, 1-4.

Both Beck and Cohen participated in the 2012 New Hope Arts exhibition, Continuum, which paired established and emerging artists.  Cohen was subsequently invited to show a selection of small works as part of Academy’s mission; both as an exhibition opportunity for someone doing important work, and a chance for the public to see a different kind of representational painting. – I’ve been included in a wonderful painting show Curated by Bill Scott at the Mainline Art Center.

Painting has always held an important place at Main Line Art Center and this exhibition brings back highly regarded painter, Bill Scott, who as a young boy studied at the Art Center and Haverford Friends School. In PAINT! Scott selects paintings and works on paper by younger artists whose work he admires. The exhibition features artists age 24 to 39 from throughout the US and now living in Philadelphia. The artists’ differing approaches and dedication to their medium highlight how contemporary painting thrives in the region. Read more…

I will be giving a slide lecture for the Artsbridge group at the Riverrun gallery in Stockton NJ on thursday the 16th
of September.


My painting Channel Surfing has been included in the show Philadelphia Painters at the Painting Center in Chelsea, New York.
